A local herb in Manipur is thought to have cancer curing properties. This has prompted Institute of bioresource and sustainable development (IBSD) to launch an investigation into the herb.
IBSD sources said that the herb is known as ‘zanlung damdei.' Ot is reported that this herb was discovered by a villager named Chawlien Hmar at Saikot village in Churachandpur district.Project coordinator Mohindro Singh Khaidem is leading the investigation into the medicinal properties of the herb. Concerns are already rife about registering the intellectual properties rights of the herb.
Already many roadside shops are selling the herbal potion in plastic bottles.
