Dogs Help Owners Get in Shape
Need to get fit? Then just get a dog. Recent studies have shown that those who own a dog walk more, walk faster and have a more active lifestyle compared to those without a four legged friend.
A recent poll conducted by pet food company Mars Petcare among more than 1,000 adults found that more than 66 percent of a person’s weekly walking schedule was due to dogs.

Experts also said that more than 25 percent of people with children, who also have a dog, visit the park or other outdoor scenes.

Sandra McCune, who is the co-editor of the book, “The Health Benefits of Dog Walking for People and Pets”, said that owning a dog also had a positive effect on a person’s social life. “If people go out with a dog, they're more likely to have a conversation. Dogs are strong drivers of social capital”, she said.
