Doctor-Musicians Play It Up to Help Patients in Pune
An all-doctors band called 'Lets Act' in Maharashtra's Pune city are raising funds for economically-disadvantaged patients by giving musical performances.
For the last eight years, these doctors have been belting out old Hindi and Marathi hits and generating over Rs 50 lakh for treating economically disadvantaged patients suffering from burns, cleft lips, cancer and neurological disorders.

"We organised programme for raising funds for epileptic kids. The name of our band is Lets Act under which we raise funds for economically-disadvantaged patients by doing musical performances," said Dasmit Singh, a doctor.

Kamlesh Bokil, an oncosurgeon provided space for the practice sessions on Tuesday and Friday nights in his nursing home.

The doctors work the entire day, and take out time to jam at night. Their charitable efforts has been deeply appreciated by locals.

"The step that these doctors have taken for raising funds for the poor patients is a good step forward. The medicines nowadays are very costly and everybody cannot afford it and they suffer lot of problems in their life, so this is a step ahead they have taken from the doctor's point of view," said Ketki, a visitor.

The doctors started Lets Act in 2002 and since then, the band has given over 125 performances at various conferences and Army Day celebrations.
