Do Not Panic Over Swine Flu Scare

by Rajashri on Aug 7 2009 12:01 AM

The first death from swine flu in India has sparked off a real panic in the country, but there is actually no need for one.

While a pandemic of the nature of swine flu cannot be taken lightly, it is also not needed to treat it with terror. Swine flu is caused by a virus that has so far responded to treatment by anti-viral medications.

India has reported 574 cases till not and with the government sanctioning 18 labs to detect the disease, diagnosis is taken care of.

While consumers are right to seek out ways to prevent infection, it is advised that they must not panic. On its part, the government must also take adequate measures so that treatments can actually reach the needy and not be restricted to just the urban areas.
