DIY Tasks Result in High Number of Eye Injuries
A new report suggests that more than 30,000 people in Britain suffer from eye injuries attempting to perform various professional tasks by themselves.
The report, released by College of Optometrists, revealed that nearly half of the people who try to do the work themselves do not know the exact process of completing the work. The report went on to pin point carpentry, decorating an welding as the most dangerous works with people often forgetting to wear protective goggles when chiselling, drilling or hammering.

“You only have one pair of eyes so it's vital to protect them when undertaking certain DIY tasks. Generally the rule of thumb is that if there is a risk of any foreign bodies entering the eye, wearing protective eyewear is essential”, Dr Susan Blakeney of the College said.
