Britain's Cheating Capital - Devon

by Rajshri on Mar 28 2010 9:55 AM

A survey has revealed that forty four percent of the people in sleepy Devon are having affairs.

A staggering 44 percent who live in the scenic county admit they are currently playing away while an extra 4 percent have cheated in the past, reports the Daily Star.

Research was conducted by IllicitEncounters.com.

Only 19 percent of people in second-placed Avon admitted they are cheaters.

Saintly Surrey was the most faithful county, with only 3 percent having strayed.

To reach the conclusion, OnePoll quizzed more than 4,000 married people on their relationship habits.

Sara Hartley, from Illicit Encounters, said: "In our opinion, Devon have just been much more honest in their answers.

"It has previously been estimated that around 40 percent of women and 60 percent of men will cheat during marriage, so these figures seem incredibly low.

"Traditional values seem to have a strong hold in rural towns and villages, therefore many feel a strong pressure to marry. As a result, we see a lot of members from places like Devon, who married young and now feel trapped in their relationships.

"The Western Isles, which is widely considered to be one of the most religious places in the UK, has a higher percentage of IllicitEncounters.com members than most other counties."
