An innovative product that helps people monitor their blood sugar levels and blood pressure has been launched in Coimbatore in southern India.

The kit would be more use to diabetics and BP patients who need to monitor the body condition regularly. The kit is portable and is quoted at Rs 5,499.

The devices has been tested and certified to quality and reliability. International accreditation of British Hypertension Society has been obtained for the blood glucose meter.

To track one's state of health and be sure, Welcare Health Monitoring Kit was launched in Coimbatore in Southern State of Tamil Nadu, India recently.

Introduced by S&T Welcare Equipments (P) Ltd based in Coimbatore, the kit has blood sugar monitor, blood pressure monitor, digital personal scale and thermometer.

Welcare is the brand name of Monitoring Kit and Fitness Equipments of S&T, one of the fast growing direct sales organizations in India. It's a headache to run to the hospital or medical lab whenever one want to examine the health, so the Monitoring Kit comes in handy.

``It's vital that one have a kit at home. Because, monitoring good health is only possible if one is aware of his state of health at all times,'' says D Shanmuga Sundaram, Managing Director of S&T.

Teamed up with international players in Health and Fitness products range, S&T carefully selects products for daily use to make one stay apart from common diseases like hypertension and diabetes.

``Being first of its kind in India, the kit will help not only diagnose patients, but all those who are conscious about their well being. As a socially responsible corporate citizen, we strongly believe that India will be strong and powerful only when young generations of India are free from diseases,'' Shanmuga Sundaram says.

Dr G Bakthavatsalam, chairman, KG Hospital while launching the kit said the fact that health awareness is very low in the country could be gauged by the number of BP and diabetic patients in the country. He attributed change in lifestyle and food habits as a cause for this.

``The Monitoring Kit would be useful for policemen like us who, usually, do not have time to go the hospitals quite often for health check ups,'' said S Jayapandian, assistant commissioner of police.
