 Bipolar Disorder Bogs Catherine Zeta-Jones
The famous and enviable Oscar-winning 41 year old Hollywood icon, Catherine Zeta Jones is going through an eventful phase in her life.
Undoubtedly, she has been on a roller coaster ride, ever since her dashing husband, Michael Douglas, was diagnosed with cancer. Supporting him through the treatment left her emotionally tired.

Almost on the verge of a mental breakdown, she checked into a US mental health clinic to be treated for acute attacks of depression and mood swings.

After completing the intensive therapy at the Silver Hill hospital in Connecticut, she said, “I’m lucky. But that’s not to say I don’t get down on myself. I try and stay positive, being negative isn’t good for my personality. I don’t just bring myself down – I bring everyone around me down. It’s like a dark cloud, ‘Uh oh, here we go”, and have to snap out of it.”

Reportedly, Catherine is a victim of  Bipolar II, a type of manic depression where the victims’ mood changes quickly between high and low.

“My wife returned from Amsterdam to our home in Spain. She called me on her way to the airport before she got on a plane. She was hysterical and I was concerned that she had to keep putting her head between her legs. She was fainting and couldn’t get any air.She showed all the signs of having a nervous breakdown. She said, ‘I have to see a doctor’ and was very emotional. Between her getting on the plane and arriving in Spain I made a lot of calls and found an English-speaking doctor who I took her to see directly from the airport at his office. He examined her and gave her some kind of medication,” Michael Douglas said.
