The personality type, the kind of friends a person keep can be determined by the brand of beer they drink, shows research.
It found that iconic VB is a hit with the working-class, budget shoppers, pizza lovers and 'Dancing With The Stars' viewers.

Carlton Draught's followers are keener on fish and chips and V8 Supercars.

High-income earners who frequent department stores and live theatres are likely to pick up a James Boag's, while bookworms and ABC and SBS news addicts like a Stella Artois or Coopers Pale Ale.

And the younger set tends to be fond of Corona and Heineken.

Deakin University consumer behaviour expert Paul Harrison said brain scan studies had found alcohol purchases were usually driven by emotion over taste.

"Beer is a really good indicator of aspiration and kinship. People are drawn towards the kinds of people (who) drink what they drink," the Daily Telegraph quoted him as saying.

"It is a reflection of your social circle and the kind of person you see yourself as," he added.

And Pure Blonde and Corona buyers often tuned in to watch shows such as 'Desperate Housewives', 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'How I Met Your Mother'.
