Avoid Unregistered Child Minders, Organization Says
A childcare organization in Northern Ireland has urged parents not to employ unregistered child minders, warning that such a practice would be dangerous for the safety of the children.
According to latest data available with Northern Ireland Childminding Association (NICMA), more than 30 percent of the newly registered child minders have confirmed that many families in their area employ illegal child minders who have not registered with the organization.

The law states that any child minder who works for more than two hours a day should be registered with their local health and social care trust. NICMA has come hard on illegal child minders, warning parents that they are putting their child’s safety at risk by employing them.

“Our main concern is that the use of illegal childcarers, who have not been inspected, have not had a criminal records check, and have no insurance, is putting the safety of children at risk”, NICMA’s director Bridget Nodder said, adding that such a practice is also unfair on those child minders who adhere to the law and register.
