 Adult Abuse and Neglect
Many adults in a vulnerable position either due to age or due to an illness are being abused in their own homes according to recent reports which speak of nearly 500 cases of abuse and neglect every week.
Some of the cases reported are about care home residents tied to chairs, left hungry or thirsty or simply locked in bedrooms for endless hours.

Nearly 30% of cases reported involved adult neglect, about being left unattended, not being given meals or medication or left in soiled clothes for hours.

Some adults were physically abused, locked up in rooms or tied to chairs and beds. Another 22 % of abused elders were pressurized about financial matters by their carers and forced to include them in their wills.
