64-Year Old From Delhi Reports First Case Of Swine Flu For This Season In Noida
On August 20, the first case of swine flu was reported for this season from a hospital in Noida. The 64-year-old woman from Delhi was admitted in Fortis hospital last week after which she was tested positive for H1N1.
District malaria officer Phool Singh said. "She was admitted in Fortis Hospital, Sector 62 and tested positive for H1N1, according to the hospital authorities." The patient was discharged on august 20.

Between January 6 and March 31 this year, the district health department sent 453 samples of suspected swine flu patients to the National Center for Disease Control in Delhi. Out of whom 112 tested positive for swine flu.

Swine flu is contagious and spreads the same way as seasonal flu and similar symptoms such as, cough, fever, sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, body ache, headache, chills and fatigue. Swine flu can be contracted from an infected person, from a day before they start showing symptoms of the disease up to 7 days after they have been cured, doctors said. This time frame increases to 10 days in children.

Singh said that “people should not fear an outbreak of the H1N1 virus. We have alerted all the hospital and health care centers for the treatment of patients, if any," he said. Meanwhile, 5 more persons have been tested positive for dengue in the district.
