60-year-old Doctor Struck Off Rolls in UK for Inappropriate Behaviour Towards Women

A 60-year-old doctor has been struck off the rolls by the General Medical Council of the UK for “inappropriate behaviour” towards women patients.

Alan Tutin was charged with fondling a patient's breasts saying he could tell if she was pregnant and told another to strip to take an eyesight test.

At the GMC hearing, Tutin admitted using his surgery computer to look at pornographic websites between 2004 and 2006, and confessed to using adult phone lines at work in 2004 but denied the sexual claims of patients and colleagues.

Chairman Andrew Popat said the doctor had abused patients for his own sexual gratification, breaking 'many of the fundamental tenets of Good Medical Practice.'

'The Panel considers that when doctors behave as Dr Tutin they damage not only the patients whom they have directly abused, but also put at risk the essential trust which is necessary between the public and the medical profession,' he said.
