With an estimated 6 million children in the U.S. without health insurance, the situation has now taken a turn for the worse.
There is no child-only health insurance plan available on the market. Even when they are, they may be limited to a single insurer or to specific once-a-year enrollment periods.
Also, they may be expensive as many parents now wait to purchase a policy for their child until they get really sick and have expensive medical bills looming. Premiums in many states have thus become simply unaffordable.
