Twenty-One-year-old Brain Dead Victims’ Organs Gives New Life to Five People
A 21-year-old brain dead man gives new lease of life to five patients suffering from various ailments.
Arun, a resident of Kolar met with an accident of April 6. He was then admitted to a hospital with severe head injuries. He was declared brain dead in a Kolar hospital and he was brought to BGS Global Hospitals on April 8.

Doctors counseled the family members for organ donation and the father Mohan Vel, agreed to donate Arun’s organs. A green corridor was created for the ambulance to reach Bengaluru in 48 minutes from Kolar for organ transplantation.

The heart, liver, kidneys and eyes were harvested on April 9. One kidney was transplanted to a needy patient in BGS Global Hospital. Another kidney was taken for a patient in Suguna hospital and the eyes were sent to Narayana Netralaya.

Dr N K Venkatramanaa, vice chairman, BGS Global Hospitals, said, “Arun continues to be alive in these five individuals and we sincerely thank the generosity of the family. We also thank the Bengaluru traffic police for their support.”
