158 New Dengue Cases in Just a Week Rings Alarm Bells in National Capital
Delhi reported as many as 158 fresh cases of dengue over the last week, sources said. The data from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi gives an alarming picture as only 26 cases of the vector-borne disease were reported in 2014. Also, the number of cases reported so far in 2015 is the highest in the last five years.
According to sources, two people have lost their lives to dengue this year. A three-year-old boy also succumbed to the disease on August 10 and a 37-year-old woman from Narela district died at a private hospital on August 4.

"People should not worry about the figures. Everyone is aware about the disease. More and more people are now reporting about the disease. All our hospitals and health centers are well equipped with the required machinery and staff. Our preparations are better than last year," Dr Charan Singh, additional director, public health and water-borne diseases control, directorate of health services, told Mail Today.
