10-Bedded Isolation Wards At All Hospitals in Varanasi to Curb Swine Flu
All government hospitals in Varanasi have been set up with isolation wards for swine flu. The district magistrate had convened a meeting with health officials and directed them to set up an isolation ward for swine flu patients each at Sri Shiv Prasad Gupta (SSPG) Hospital, women's district hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital, Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital in Ramnagar and Sir Sunder Lal (SSL) Hospital in Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
10-bedded isolation wards have been set up and two teams comprising of four doctors have been constituted for treating suspected swine flu patients. Arrangements have been made for sending swab samples to SGPGI in Lucknow.

“Ample amount of medicines, 50 PPE kits, five sample collection kits as many as 20 N-95 masks and 1,000 tami flu tablets had been stocked,” said Dr M P Chaurasia, CMO.

Regarding a suspected swine flu patient, CMO said, "I was informed that a woman hailing from Chandauli had been admitted at a private hospital in Shivpur after showing swine-flu like symptoms. But, she was discharged after giving medicines, although she tested positive for H1N1."

Meanwhile, suspected dengue patients from Kotwa village are still on the rise. As many as 13 patients were referred to DDU Hospital earlier. Initial pathology tests of 19 suspected dengue patients were conducted, of which five tested positive.
