1 in 8 People Spend More Time With Smartphones Than With Their Partners
A new survey has found that when couples spend time together, loved ones come second best to their smartphones.
It found that Britons have become so tied to their phones that one in eight adults claim their partner spends more time using their phone than speaking to them.

According to the study carried out for Sheilas' Wheels home insurance, while women spend an average of 15 hours a day with their phones, men spend 17 hours a day within arm's reach of the gadgets, the Daily Mail reported.

Nearly one in five (18 percent) men admitted that they slept with their phones next to them in bed, while it was 16 percent in case of women.

Men also said they spend on average 48 minutes during a night out on their smartphone, sending an average three emails, 12 texts and two photos, as well as posting three messages and two status updates on websites such as Twitter and Facebook.

More than a third (34 percent) admitted texting or emailing during a face-to-face conversation, while 27 percent keep one eye fixed on the devices to check if the little red light is flashing during activities such as dinner or a film.

A whopping 90 percent of adults also admit to answering phones during a social occasion.
