Stone In Bladder Diverticulum


Diverticulum is a weakness in bladder wall resulting in a outpouching from the bladder. Calculus formation in the diverticulum is due to stagnation of urine inside the diverticulum.

Symptoms can be Pain, hematuria, frequency, recurrent infection.

Diagnosis is by ultrasound, x-ray of the bladder or cystoscopy

Treatment is Surgical Management - Diverticulectomy or removal of the obstruction caused by the prostate. Most of the stones are Calcium phosphate and Calcium oxalate.
