Pyrazinamide is used in combination with other drugs to treat Tuberculosis
(TB- Infection affecting lungs and other parts of the body).
Pyrazinamide is used to treat:
. Latent TB
. Active TB
. Prevent TB among close contacts with people who have active TB
. Patients with a positive tuberculin skin test
. TB patients with HIV infection and pulmonary fibrosis (scarring of the lungs).
How does Pyrazinamide work?
It works by killing the bacteria - Mycobacterium Tuberculosis which causes TB.
