Ethambutol is used in combination with other drugs to treat tuberculosis (TB- Infection affecting lungs and other parts of the body).
Ethambutol is used to treat:
• Active TB
• Latent (resting or non- growing) TB
• Prevent TB among close contacts with people who have active TB
• Patients with a positive tuberculin skin test
• TB patients with HIV infection and pulmonary fibrosis (scarring of the lungs).
