Creamy Cleanser for Face

Face cleansers are great in removing makeup and dirt from the face but they also rip off moisture. Gel cleansers are the best choice for oily-skin to remove excessive oil from face. However this can leave the skin dry and rough in winters. This problem can be solved by opting for moisturizing face cleansers from brands that suit your skin type. They help to keep the face moisturized but take all the tough make-up and dirt out of skin efficiently.

Moisturizing is Important

It is not just the harsh and chill temperature that leaves the skin dry, but study shows that the methods or mediums we choose to keep ourselves warm also affect the skin. Moisturizing the body is the most important thing to do in the winters. Apply moisturizing body lotions and body creams that are specially formulated for winter skin. At night when the temperature dips further, applying glycerin to the affected areas works to retain moisture in the dry skin areas. Cold creams are available to moisturize the face as it is exposed to the cold climate all the time. These rituals should be followed several times in a day to keep dryness and skin irritation at bay.

This is the most common problem for people of all age groups. Chapped lips are not just a beauty crisis for women but also irritate men and children. Lack of moisture from the lips and surrounding areas and constant licking of lips causes chapped lips in winters. Petroleum jelly, butter, pure coconut oil and lip balms are a great remedy to cure chapped lips. They should be applied many times a day as the lips start getting dry again. Face Masks for Clear Complexion

Face masks could help a lot to cure skin problems in winter. If not taken care, the skin on face can often develop cracks and cause irritation. A fine layer of fresh milk cream with glycerin or honey is a good way to keep your face hydrated throughout the day. Mix small portion of milk cream with honey and apply it on your face, wash with lukewarm water when it dries off and pat dry your skin to get beautiful results.

Lukewarm Showers

Long hours of shower as well as hot water baths can take away the essential oils and moisture from the stratum conium, the outer layer of the skin which acts as the outer protective covering of the body. This leads to skin dryness and irritation, which sometimes causes cracks in the skin letting harmful germs enter our body. To avoid such problems, it is advisable to switch to quick showers in lukewarm water. This minimizes the risks of dry skin. Apply moisturizers immediately after showers to retain moisture in the skin.

Limit Alcohol Products

Many skin products and hair styling products come with alcohol in them which leave a cooling and soothing effect for sometime. But it leaves the skin and hair dry after few minutes and makes hair frizzy and weak at roots. This causes dry-scalp, hair fall and dry skin. Go for alcohol-free hair and skin products to prevent these issues and get the same benefits.

Room heaters and wood-burning stoves are common mediums to keep the indoors warm and comfortable in winters. But excess amount of heat reduce the humidity in the room. Reduced amount of humidity causes the skin to become dry and rough. Hence, it is advisable to keep the temperatures low to avoid skin and hair dryness.

Brittle Nails, Keep Them Short

Not just the skin and hair, but our nails too suffer a lot due to the harsh weather conditions. It is advisable to keep the nails short during winter to avoid annoying peeling and splitting of nails.
