The vertebral column, which helps us to maintain an erect posture, consists of individual bones called vertebrae. Between these vertebrae are small cushions called intervertebral discs, which allow limited movement of the vertebrae over each other without friction. Damage to these discs is a common cause of cervical spondylosis.
