Ureteric Calculus for Patient Education


About - Stone in the ureter(tube connecting Kidney with bladder). Stones are produced in the kidney and one or many stones slip into the ureter.

Diagnosis - Usually based on clinical suspicion from the history and examination. Ultrasound may help in finding obstructed kidney and in some cases stones near kidney or bladder. CT KUB will give idea about exact location and size of stone and also how hard it is.

Treatment - Small stones usually pass with medications to relax the ureter. Larger stones and stones near kidney will require ureteroscopy and stone removal or ESWL.
