Misoprostol, a prostaglandin analog can be obtained with a prescription from a registered medical practitioner for stomach ulcer and decreasing the acid secretion in the stomach. It is used illegally for self-induced abortions in some countries. Misoprostol is used to treat the mother when fetal death has occurred but has not resulted in miscarriage.
