Glossary

Prosthesis: Procedure of reconstructing the defected teeth.

Acrylic: A fibre made up of acrylic acid.

Gums: Translucent substances without form. Usually a decomposition product of cellulose. Gums dissolve in water.

Jaw bone: Bones below and above the mouth.

Ulcer: An open sore on the skin or a mucous membrane.

Soreness: painful or sensitive.

Mastication: Chewing.

Fluoride: chemical compound of fluorine.

Tooth decay: Also known as dental caries, is the destruction of the enamel (outer surface) of a tooth.

Gum disease: Inflammation of the gum that destroys the bone that supports your teeth.

Dentist: A specialist who takes care of diseases associated with teeth and gums.
