Symptoms of Drug Abuse
Different drugs have different physical effects on an individual. However, the symptoms of addiction are similar.
Common symptoms of drug abuse include-
- Negligence of responsibilities- Recurrent drug use that results in lack of meeting important obligations at work, school, college or at home.

- Using drugs under dangerous situations or taking risks while under the influence of the drug.
- Facing recurrent legal issues due to drug use.
- Continued drug use despite social or relationship problems.
Common symptoms of drug addiction include-
- Increased drug tolerance- An increased amount of substance is needed to achieve the same high or other desired effects that were previously attained with smaller amount.
- Taking the drug in order to avoid developing withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, restlessness, insomnia, depression, sweating, shaking and anxiety.

- Loss of control over drug use- Taking larger amounts of the drug or for longer than intended. There is a persistent desire to take the drug or the individual has made unsuccessful attempts to decrease or control the substance use.
- Focusing significant amount of time and energy to procure, use or recover from the effects of the substance.
- The individual significantly reduces or stops participating in important social, re-creational, work, or school activities as a result of using the substance.
- Continuing drug use despite knowing that it is potentially injurious to health.
