Schizophrenia

There is no particular test to diagnose schizophrenia.

The doctor makes the diagnosis on the basis of patient’s medical history given by the patient and his/her relatives.

It is important to rule out other illnesses, as sometimes people suffer severe mental symptoms or even psychosis due to undetected underlying medical conditions. Laboratory tests like CT scan or MRI should be done to rule out other possible causes of the symptoms before concluding that a person has schizophrenia.
