Symptoms & Diagnosis of Diaper Rash

Symptoms & Signs of Diaper Rash

The skin in the diaper area looks red and inflamed. If secondary infection has set in, pustules might be seen. If there is overlying fungal infection, crusty areas are seen over the inflamed area. The child cries constantly and the baby stops crying soon after removing the diaper.

Diagnosis of Diaper Rash

Diaper rash is diagnosed by eliciting history from the mother and by clinical examination of the rash. If there is any other infection it is diagnosed by blood investigations and microscopic examination of the scrapings from the area of rash.
