Surgery for Congenital Cystic Adenomatoid Malformation of The Lung
The operation that is undertaken is a fairly major one but is usually fairly straight forward. The length of stay following surgery would vary from a few days to, in the most extreme cases, perhaps some weeks.
Although the operation itself will involve removing one of the 5 lobes of the baby's lungs, this is an area that would not have been any use to the baby anyway and the remainder of the lung will grow to compensate for the piece that has been removed.
