Safe & Effective Gene Therapy For Preserving Vision

New gene therapy employing viruses may be safe and effective in improving sight and preventing deterioration of vision in age-related macular degeneration, according to a small and preliminary clinical trial, conducted by Johns Hopkins scientists and their collaborators. The team of scientists ventured to test gene therapy in patients with age-related macular degeneration, as they felt that current treatment regimens are not easy to follow.
