The lung cancer awareness campaign began way back in 1995 when one day was observed as the "Lung Cancer Awareness Day". However as the movement gained momentum and the community grew it evolved into a month long event observed annually worldwide. This month-long awareness campaign aims to help people who are at high risk for lung cancer to obtain an early diagnosis and treatment in the initial stage of the disease when it is easier to treat and potentially cure it.
