A gene thought to be critical in the regulation of insulin, the key hormone in diabetes has been identified by recent research of families with rare blood sugar conditions. The research carried out at the Queen Mary University of London, University of Exeter and Vanderbilt University could lead to the development of novel treatments for both rare and common forms of diabetes.
