Blood Pressure Medication to Prevent Type 1 Diabetes
Methyldopa, a high blood pressure medication for pregnant women, may now be used to prevent type 1 diabetes, finds a new study. Sixty percent of people at risk of getting type 1 diabetes possess the DQ8 molecule which significantly increases the chances of getting the disease. Methyldopa can block this DQ8 molecule and block the onset of thetype 1 diabetes.
