Carbon monoxide can improve the effectiveness of antibiotics and make bacteria more sensitive to antibiotic medication, according to recent research at the Georgia State University. The study finds that carbon monoxide has the potential to make bacteria more sensitive or vulnerable to antibiotics. The antibiotic metronidazole, when paired with carbon monoxide, has more impact on H. pylori infection.
