Biomarker that Detects Heart Disease Risk in Lupus Patients

The systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease. The body's immune system could mistakenly attack the immune disease and is characterized by inflammation that could affect different tissues, including the skin, joint linings, lungs, kidneys and other organs. A specific biomarker known as High sensitivity Cardiac Troponin T (HS-cTnT) in the blood of a lupus patient who had no symptoms of cardiovascular disease (CVD), can detect the risk of cardiovascular disease like atherosclerosis.
