As the empowered Indian women are rising to new heights in their professional and social spectrum there is an increasing trend of rising psychological issues related to anxiety faced by them.
According to data compiled by DocsApp an online doctor consultation platform 71206 women took consultations for psychological reasons during the recently concluded year indicating a 19% rise in such consultations. Of the total women seeking counselling approximately 65% of them were in the age bracket of 21-30 years. While a majority of women were found suffering from an anxiety disorder there was also a 4% rise in mental problems over this age segment.
“One of the common issues found among these women was relationship issues with an individual. The dependency upon an individual not necessarily a man but anyone from their family/friends. Such women were found to be low on self-confidence morale and were seen as self-doubting. “said an expert at DocsApp.
Out of the many possible therapies Doctors on the platform provided these women cognitive and rational behavioural therapy to overcome these issues & be more independent- Mentally & Emotionally.
Rational behaviour therapy is a short-term therapy which is based on discovering an unsuspected problem which creates unwanted mental emotional and physical behaviours while Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a psycho-social intervention that aims to improve mental health. CBT focuses on changing unhelpful cognitive distortions and behaviours improving emotional regulation and the development of personal coping strategies targeted at resolving current problems.
Furthermore when a woman becomes mentally ill treatment is sought infrequently and late. This is because women are often blamed for overthinking & often their mental illness is addressed as baseless.
Although Anxiety may either arise in your workplace and personal life there are a few things that a woman needs to understand to be fit. It is essential for women to prioritize themselves first & focus on what they want to live a healthy life- physically & mentally.
