The accessory works by clipping onto any device to help grab the attention of an infant or pet, giving users the ability to snap the perfect picture, all with the help of its fictional character Lu. Complete with a built-in rattle, smiling face and pair of wobbly antennas, Lu's main purpose is engagement.

The team behind the brand is on a mission to spread smiles around the world, and they teamed up with Smile Train to make their vision a reality. Smile Train provides free surgery and comprehensive cleft care to children born with clefts in developing countries around the world; since being founded in 1999, the organization has helped more than one million children worldwide. As part of their core business model moving forward, including throughout the duration of the Indiegogo campaign, Lookalu will be donating a portion of sales from each Lookalu sold to Smile Train.
When asked why the company chose to partner with Smile Train over other organizations, Lookalu Co-founder and CEO Mike Mayer explained, "Unlike other organizations, Smile Train uses the 'teach a man to fish' model and focuses on training local medical professionals to provide cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care in their own communities. We liked this sustainable approach a lot - the decision was pretty easy."
Lookalu's attention-grabbing method of choice is a rattle, which has been proven to work better than a light feature. The accessory's non-scratch grip fits virtually any phone, with or without a case, while its lightweight, small size adds portability - an essential factor for new parents on the go.
