Wirkus is a board-certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner with special experience working in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She brings more than 29 years of experience in obstetrics, gynecology and fertility medicine to the HQA team and is excited to bring her dedication to service to her new role at HQA.

Born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Wirkus began her career as a registered nurse after graduating from the University of South Carolina. From there, Wirkus came to Colorado, working as an RN in a women and children's hospital and joining its leadership team as Director of Women's Services. Wirkus also served in an elite maternal/fetal medicine nursing team with the AirLife/Flight for Life High Risk OB Team before joining the United States Air Force.
In the USAF, she served in five countries, was awarded multiple medals and received a full scholarship to the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center, where she received her master's degree in Nursing with a women's health nurse practitioner focus.
