NEW YORK, Nov. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- In the current cyber world, where data can be lost or stolen, or if a natural disaster strikes and wipes out mass amounts of data that can't be easily replaced, having a Personal Health Record on hand is a life saver.

Clinical oncologist Kamal Malaker has worked in some of the world's most advanced medical centers, as well as in some of the poorest areas on the planet. He believes that no matter where one lives, keeping a personal medical record diary is vital.

On Aug. 29, 1979, Hurricane David razed the Caribbean Island of Dominica. Medical professionals advised citizens to carry a medical diary for all medical visits. Nearly 40 years later, that tradition is still being maintained as a voluntary precaution. While working as a visiting professor in Dominica many years later, Dr. Malaker was able to review and study some of these medical diaries. The records contained a wealth of information dating back over 30 years, records that were not available anywhere else.

Noted book reviewer Charles Asher states, "'My Personal Health Record' is a clever, concise, and handy tool for keeping track of doctor visits, ailments, remedies, and health advice. The author – Dr. Kamalendu Malaker – has filled the pages of this book with accessible, manageable, and intuitive forms that eschew complicated jargon to instead help you outline your necessary health information. Each page allows a new, dated entry where the owner can log their own records, thereby taking control of their own essential and personal information, instead of relying on doctors' offices – where documents might be lost or compromised. Furthermore, 'My Personal Health Record' begins with pages of advice from Dr. Malaker (a clinical oncologist) himself, presenting the reader with insider information on what and how to log indispensable medical information such as checkups, allergies, chronic conditions, etc. Having all of your personal health records in one, easy-to-reach place is clearly indispensable – and this book is just that and more."

"My Personal Health Record" will give people a sense of security and peace of mind, no matter what is happening in the world.
