Mr Daya Ram Chauhan was known case of rheumatoid arthritis for 5 years but for past 2 years started deteriorating which adversely affected his quality of life. Due to his serious cardiac condition he was not shortlisted for the knee surgery on two earlier occasions in different hospitals. He travels to Guragon daily for his office but because of knee pain he was spending a lot of energy in walking he felt thirsty but because of his heart he was restricted to fluid intake of less than 1 litre in 24 hours. The constant pain impaired the patient’s mobility to a large extent and eventually his legs were bent. When he approached doctors at Fortis Faridabad a multi-specialty team of doctors studied his case and prepared a plan of treatment with minimum risk of life and maximum chance of cure from the arthritis. The clinical excellence of this entire treatment was the ability to perform a surgery at a record time without jeopardizing the cardiac condition as well as maintaining the health of the heart while the knee surgery was performed. This was to minimize the load of medicine and fluid over the heart.

Dr Harish Ghoota Additional Director Orthopedics and Joint Replacement said “On presentation it was assessed that Mr. Daya Ram Chauhan could not be given the injectable medicines. The anesthetic procedure would lower his blood pressure that might cause heart attack. Therefore with consultation from Dr Sanjay Kumar a treatment plan was drawn up. We performed the surgery within 20 minutes to mitigate the risk of cardiac failure. Post the surgery patient was well managed by ICU team led by Dr Supradip Ghosh. We are happy to announce that the surgery was a success. The patient is now free of any pain and can walk without any problem.”

Mr. Daya Ram Chauhan said “I am extremely grateful to the doctors who helped me to walk pain-free once again. It has improved the quality of my life substantially. The constant pain from arthritis is now completely gone and I can walk without any hindrance.”

Mr. Mohit Singh Facility Director Fortis Escorts Hospital Faridabad said “Our hospital remains one of the most trusted hospitals in the greater Faridabad region. As one of the oldest institution we have remained committed to the idea of clinical excellence for the best possible outcome. We have an excellent team of doctors and supporting staff who always take on a clinical challenge and work towards achieving best patient care. We are really proud of what our doctors have done.
