SACRAMNETO, Calif., May 20, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP) announced Friday that it will begin offering coursework for addiction professionals who wish to become Certified Alcohol and Drug Treatment Executives (CTE). This training strives to assist executives and aspiring executives with training and development that will strengthen the addiction industry, create increased consumer protection for addiction clients, and build capacity for those afflicted by substance use disorder.

The program provides a source of information with regard to the multifaceted career aspects that executives and managers face daily. The intent of the training is to further advance knowledge, skills, and abilities of the training's participants while also providing them with a forum for discussion, networking, and relationship building.

Classes are structured so participants receive mock and real-life situations, reviews, discussion, and practical knowledge. CCAPP utilizes modern practical applications in this course, providing participants with the experience and confidence required to further enhance their understanding and application of industry skills and techniques. According to CCAPP CEO Pete Nielsen, the need for greater training and standardization of managerial skills for the addiction treatment industry is critical at a time when Californians are embracing treatment for substance use disorders and new revenue is being made available to create or expand treatment programs.

"Expanded access to treatment can only happen when dedicated professionals can gain the skills they need to effectively conduct business in this space," said Nielsen. "A CTE shows incoming clients that they are about to receive treatment through a quality organization."

The first training for the new certificate will be held in the CCAPP classroom at 2400 Marconi Ave. in Sacramento, on June 12-15.
