"Our business requires us to be progressive and responsive," Dr. Greaney said. "This change allows me to shift my responsibilities so I can focus more of my attention on market disruptors and innovative ways to navigate our nation's increasingly complex health care system. It also makes it possible for me to continue to do what I love – mentoring physicians and providing clinical guidance, speaking at industry conferences, taking care of injured workers and working with employers on their occupational health needs.

"I intend to remain fully engaged while entrusting Bill to lead our talented team as we pursue our immediate and long-term business objectives. We will continue to strive to keep people healthy and maintain their connection with work, because we know that work matters and health counts."

As CFO, Nixon has been instrumental in significantly expanding WorkCare's footprint by investing in information technology, creating scalable delivery models and entering into strategic partnerships that add value for customers.

"I am very excited to be named President and CEO," Nixon said. "WorkCare has positively impacted the occupational health service delivery landscape thanks to the insight and creative thinking of our founder, Dr. Greaney. The team we've assembled, through a planned and deliberate transition, will build on that foundation and help shape the future of a healthy and vibrant workforce."

Among leadership changes announced today, Nixon has named Chief Innovation Officer Maria Henderson to the dual role of Chief Operating Officer and CIO responsible for oversight of WorkCare's service lines, analytics and human resources.

Henderson, who joined the company in March, is a widely respected thought leader with national expertise in employee health management. Her experience includes clinical and management roles in rehabilitation and disability systems, and senior executive at Fortune 200 companies and governmental agencies including General Electric, Qwest Communications, and Pacific Gas and Electric Company. She also established and led a consulting practice serving large employers and suppliers across the country for over eight years.

"As part of the WorkCare leadership team, I plan to leverage my experience leading programs internally with employers to create a living-lab approach to product innovation," Henderson said. "My bottom line is to achieve measurable results, tailored to the customer, while ensuring employee engagement and customer satisfaction."

In other leadership changes announced today, Nixon has named:

  • Barry Fager, Director, Financial & Management Reporting, as Chief Financial Officer.
