Written by the WEDI Telehealth Workgroup, the 17-page white paper's purpose is to provide information on the various modes of delivering patient care using telehealth services and technology, including virtual encounters, remote patient monitoring, wearable devices, and integrated care management.
According to the paper: "There are numerous services provided under the umbrella of 'telehealth' and there are many methods through which to deliver those services." The more common modalities being used today are further explored and multiple examples are given to demonstrate their real-world uses. The document concludes by suggesting that these modalities are not finalized and additional changes are expected in the delivery of telehealth services. Additionally, more studies are needed to better understand the full impact of telehealth in the delivery of health care services.
"Telehealth Modalities" white paper is available for download on the WEDI website. For more information on WEDI's industry efforts surrounding telehealth, please visit the WEDI Telehealth Workgroup page.
