CARLSBAD, Calif., Oct. 29 -- Imagine living
nearly 500 miles from where you work. For Napa resident Dan Monez this is his reality. Monez willingly travels to San Diego to work with Baron Center Incorporated (BCI), an organization known for pioneering workplace violence programs, because he knows it is an organization right up his alley. For the past five years, Monez has worked as a Senior Consultant at BCI after founder Dr. Tony Baron asked Monez to join the team due to his extensive law enforcement background and commitment to stopping violence.
In the past, Monez has worked in a variety of fields all with the goal of alleviating violent behavior. These include, a Criminal Justice Instructor, Police Officer, Sheriff, Police Captain, and Chief of Police. Monez has also gained many prestigious titles and awards like the Distinguished Community Service Award by Cal-Nev-Ha Kiwanis International Foundation, being named North County Male Role Model of the Year for his "commitment and dedication to ending violence" by the Napa Emergency Women's Services & California State Legislature, gaining the title of Napa County Volunteer of the Year, and being honored the Napa County Peace Award.
Monez's passion for peace is what brought him to BCI as the organization is recognized as an industry leader in violence prevention. Monez did not hesitate when asked to work with BCI, as it was a way for him to help organizations increase productivity and, more importantly, assure security.
Monez currently resides in beautiful Napa Valley with his wife, Diana, and has two children. In his free time Monez loves to explore his artistic side. He has written, directed, produced, and acted in many stage and dinner theater plays and is trained in improvisational comedy and conducts improvisation workshops for high school students and organizations.
