About the film Dr. Viktor E. Frankl, author of "Man's Search for Meaning": these words evoke a wide range of emotions in all who have ever come in touch with the man or his work. Termed "one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century", Frankl showed that meaning can be found in life in spite of, if not because of unspeakable suffering.

His outstanding contributions in the fields of psychiatry, psychology, and neurology continue having a worldwide impact today.

Filmmaker Alexander Vesely, the grandson of the late Dr. Frankl, traveled the world over to interview friends and colleagues to record their perspectives on how Viktor Frankl lived his theories. The result is this fascinating documentary, showing Frank as he was seen by students and peers, friends and relatives, acquaintances both professional and private. We can witness a variety of encounters and anecdotes from funny to profound, from sentimental to inspiring - but always full of insight into a most human, and humane, personality.

Making his U.S. directorial debut, noted Austrian filmmaker Alexander Vesely shares his most personal film yet, charting the life of his eminent grandfather, Viktor Frankl.

With years of experience behind the camera as a director and editor of short films, commercials, and documentaries, Alex has taken his talents around the globe, producing films in Europe, the U.S., and Latin America.

"Though I was only 23 when he died, I remember his humor and his attempt at simplicity. He tried hard to be simple but in fact, he was so complex that only a few understood the real core of his humanity. Those who understood him best were my family, his friends, colleagues and special people he met around the world.

"My goal with this film was to follow his footsteps and meet the extraordinary people closest to him to gain a first-hand impression of the man he really was. I traveled around Europe, the USA, and Latin America recording astonishing stories and picking up the scattered memories of a life lived to the fullest. I visualized the stories with private footage and photographs never before seen outside the family. Looking at Viktor through the eyes of his friends was a profound and fulfilling experience for me, and I am happy to share it with the world."
