Mineral titanium dioxide is one of the world's most widely used pigments and UV-blockers and has been used in a multitude of products for more than a hundred years. Its unique optic properties and bright whiteness benefit everything from paint and cosmetics to candy and medicine.

"Available evidence cannot support the notion that the titanium dioxide in consumer products causes cancer," says Dr. Joseph Perrone, Chief Science Officer at the Center for Accountability in Science. "We must address today's knee-jerk reaction to label everything a carcinogen, particularly when a substance is a key ingredient in sun screen and actually protects against the damage of UV radiation. France's push to turn the public against titanium dioxide does nothing but leave Europeans more exposed to cancer."

The video, titled, "Is Titanium Dioxide Harmful To Your Health?" can be viewed in French HERE and in English HERE, and will be promoted online in both the United States and in Europe.

The nonprofit Center for Accountability in Science provides a balanced look at the science behind sensational headlines, and seeks to debunk junk science and correct public misperceptions.
