"We're on a mission to be the national leader in delivering pharmaceutical services and supporting chronic conditions in post-acute care environments, no matter where the patient lives," says Shane Reeves, chief executive officer of TwelveStone. "Licensure in these initial 30 states is a critical first step towards fulfilling our national expansion goals."

The licensure enables the company to negotiate specialty payer contracts, which often require national licensure before allowing the provider into the network, as well as provide specialty and compliance packaged medications across state lines, and to enable deployment of the company's delivery tracking software. The company began pursuing the licensure process in April and plans to expand to all 50 states within the next six months.

Chronic disease, or ailments that persist over a long period of time, affects half of all Americans. Treating and managing chronic disease account for 86 percent of the nation's $3 trillion spent on healthcare. Improved medication management, such as providing specialty and packaged medication, has been shown to lower chronic disease management costs and improve outcomes.

The 30 states are: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
