TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. and DAYTON, Ohio, July 10, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Karen

I. Fryberg Tulalip Health Clinic, in Tulalip, Wash., implemented the Midmark-Versus patient flow optimization solution for clinics to reduce patient wait times, enhance communications and improve the patient experience.

Located 30 miles north of Seattle, Tulalip Health Clinic serves the Tulalip Reservation, a federally-recognized organization of Snohomish, Snoqualmie, Skagit, Suiattle, Samish and Stillaguamish tribes. The newly renovated 26,500 square foot facility clinic treats more than 150 patients each day, offering a broad range of services including family practice, acute care, internal medicine, pediatrics, dental, podiatry and behavioral health. The clinic also offers an on-site laboratory, digital imaging and pharmacy services.

Jim Steinruck, Administrator of Tulalip Health Services, announced that the newly renovated Tulalip Health Clinic implemented Midmark-Versus RTLS "to reduce wait times, improve the patient experience and increase provider efficiency." A virtual tour of the new facility is shared in the Tribe's "General Manager's Report."

Patients, providers and staff wear lightweight locator badges that automatically update the Midmark-Versus RTLS software, enabling staff to improve patient flow by knowing where patients are, how long they've been waiting, who has seen them, and who needs to see them next. Dr. Rhonda Nelson, DPM, Health Informatics Manager adds, "We can also see if the patient has been to the lab, or if they're ready for the provider to come back and see them again."

An integration with Tulalip's Epic EMR displays appointment times, provider names and relevant patient information on Midmark-Versus Glance-and-Go™ electronic whiteboards. Together with patient location and visit status, this allows staff to make in-the-moment adjustments to accommodate fluctuating patient volumes from nonscheduled walk-in cases.

"How can we make the visit more efficient for the patient?" asks Dr. Nelson. "Our biggest goal is to decrease waiting times and the communication of waiting times. That is our number one goal for the patient experience."

To aid in this goal, Midmark-Versus RTLS delivers automatically-generated alerts that signal patient wait times in either the waiting area or exam rooms. "It really helps us enhance the patient experience when we can see how long patients have been waiting," shares Dr. Nelson. Speaking during the General Manager's broadcast, she explains, "We'll get an alert when the patient has been alone for ten minutes. Staff can go in and let that patient know what's going on and how much longer it will be."

Early surveys conducted during the go-live phase of the Midmark-Versus RTLS garnered positive responses from patients. Many noticed better communications with staff and less waiting time. As one patient noted, "The appointment seemed to go by much faster."

Room utilization and patient flow reports, as well as real-time patient flow information, require highly accurate location data. In a 2016 report from the healthcare research firm KLAS, Versus received the highest rating among RTLS vendors that provide both hardware and software. Versus also received the highest rating for location accuracy, as well as for many other categories.1 For more on the KLAS report, visit versustech.com/KLAS.

Midmark Corporation acquired Versus Technology, Inc. in May, 2016, creating a unique offering of clinical workflow solutions that encompass clinical workflow services, RTLS technology, medical equipment, diagnostic devices and design assistance for improved efficiency within health systems.
