NEHALEM, Ore., Aug. 9 Prestige Care, a leading provider of quality senior care, is pleased to announce that its Nehalem Valley nursing and rehabilitation care community is a recipient of a 2010 "Bronze - Commitment to Quality" National Quality Award presented by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL).

Nehalem Valley is one of three Oregon Prestige Care communities to earn the performance award recognizing excellence in quality care systems. Prestige's other award winning communities include Willowbrook Terrace in Pendleton, Ore., which also earned a bronze award and Porthaven Healthcare Center located in Portland, which earned a silver achievement in quality award for its continued demonstration of excellent quality performance.

Nehalem Valley was particularly recognized as a bronze-level award winner for its commitment to developing systematic, sustainable, people-centered care and services.
The AHCA/NCAL Quality Award involves a progressive three-step program to encourage continuous learning and development of integrated, quality systems to achieve performance excellence. Organizations apply for recognition and awards at three levels, each of which requires a more detailed and comprehensive demonstration of quality integration and performance. Organizations must be a recipient of the previous level to apply for higher level awards.
Award levels are based on criteria adopted from the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) Health Care Criteria for Performance Excellence. This year's awards will be presented at the two organizations' combined Annual Convention & Exposition, Oct. 10-13, 2010 in Long Beach, Calif.
